Governor Ademola Adeleke has established a commanding lead in the Osun State governorship election as the official collation of results enters its final stages at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) State Collation Centre in Osogbo.
Data collated from polling units and Local Government Areas through the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) indicates that the incumbent governor is maintaining a comfortable margin over his closest challengers, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Adeleke Leads as Collation Continues
Results processed from the IReV platform across Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas show that Adeleke has consistently strengthened his position across major political strongholds in the Osun West, Osun Central and Osun East senatorial districts.
Based on the figures available from the ongoing collation, Adeleke is currently leading with approximately 52.75 per cent of the votes, while APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is in second position with about 44.36 per cent.
ADC candidate, Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, is in third place with approximately 1.66 per cent, while the remaining 12 candidates collectively account for about 1.23 per cent of the votes.
The current breakdown is as follows:
| Candidate | Political Party | Current Vote Share | Position/Performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ademola Adeleke | Accord | ~52.75% | Leading across the majority of LGAs |
| Bola Oyebamiji | APC | ~44.36% | Second |
| Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam | ADC | ~1.66% | Third |
| Other 12 Candidates | Various parties | ~1.23% | Combined total |
Strongholds Boost Adeleke’s Lead
Reports from the ongoing collation indicate that Adeleke built a substantial advantage after recording strong performances in several major population centres and areas with significant voter turnout.
In Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, regarded as the governor’s home base, Adeleke recorded overwhelming figures, giving him substantial margins that helped push his overall tally ahead during the early stages of the collation.
In Osogbo and Olorunda LGAs, Adeleke also secured strong margins across key commercial and urban areas, helping to counter APC’s performance in some parts of the state capital.
The Ife and Ilesa enclaves produced crucial voting patterns in the eastern senatorial district, while Adeleke continued to record consistent victories across grassroots communities in Osun West.
Celebrations in Osogbo, Ede and Ilesa
As the collation progresses, celebrations have erupted in parts of Osogbo, Ede and Ilesa, with supporters of the governor, market women and youth groups taking to the streets in anticipation of the final declaration by the State Returning Officer.
The celebrations are, however, taking place as the official collation process remains ongoing and before INEC makes the final declaration.
Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have strengthened their presence around the INEC State Collation Secretariat along Abere Road, Osogbo, to maintain law and order as electoral officials complete the final verification and audit of results from the remaining polling units.
INEC is expected to formally announce the final result and declare the winner once all Local Government Area summaries have been fully collated and verified.
The official declaration by the State Returning Officer will therefore bring the Osun State governorship election collation process to a conclusion.
