The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator (Dr.) Sharafadeen Alli, has approved a fresh set of key appointments into his campaign organisation as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
The appointments come on the heels of the earlier naming of Chief Yemi Aderibigbe as Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, a move the campaign said underscores Alli’s commitment to building an inclusive, effective and result-oriented campaign structure.
Under the new arrangement, Hon. Sola Ogunbode has been appointed Deputy Director-General and will work closely with the Director-General in coordinating campaign activities across Oyo State.
Senator Alli also approved the appointment of three Assistant Directors-General to oversee campaign operations in the state’s three senatorial districts. Barrister ‘Lowo Obisesan will serve as Assistant Director-General for Oyo South, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape will coordinate Oyo Central, while Hon. Rasaq Raji has been named Assistant Director-General for Oyo North Senatorial District.
According to the campaign, the appointments are aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation, improving coordination across the three senatorial districts and reinforcing the campaign’s readiness ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Expressing confidence in the newly appointed officials, Alli said they possess the political experience, leadership capacity and commitment needed to deliver victory for the APC at the polls.
He assured party members that the campaign would be all-inclusive and provide opportunities for every stakeholder to contribute to the party’s success.
“Let me assure all our party men and women that this campaign will be all-inclusive. No one will be left behind. Every ward, every local government, every interest group within our party has a role to play in this project.
“We are one APC family. The task ahead is huge, but with unity of purpose, we will achieve it together,” Alli said.
Among the new appointees, Hon. Rasaq Raji is a grassroots politician and chieftain of the APC. He hails from Igbeti in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, a graduate of Metallurgical Engineering, served as Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003. He was also the Minority Leader of the House between 2019 and 2023 and served as Special Adviser during the administration of the late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Barrister ‘Lowo Obisesan is a legal practitioner, Ibadan senior chief and founder of Black & White Law Chamber. He previously served as Commissioner for Environment during the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
