The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has intensified its reconciliation efforts and renewed calls for party unity as it formally presented its governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, and deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Adesoji Michael Adedeji, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The unveiling ceremony, held on Thursday in Ibadan, also featured the formal presentation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination certificate to Senator Alli by the APC Deputy National Auditor, Hon. Gbenga Olayemi.
Speaking at the event, Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, stressed that the party must put internal divisions behind it after spending eight years in opposition in the state.
He said the presentation of the party’s governorship ticket symbolised the APC’s renewed determination to reclaim Oyo State through unity, discipline, strategic engagement and aggressive grassroots mobilisation across the state.
Adeyemo urged aggrieved members and stakeholders to embrace genuine reconciliation and make the necessary sacrifices to reposition the party for victory in the 2027 governorship election.
He also appealed to residents of the state and APC supporters to vote massively for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates during the nationwide general election.
According to him, President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has continued to inspire confidence through economic reforms, national development initiatives and efforts aimed at strengthening democratic stability across the country.
In his acceptance speech, Senator Alli described his emergence as the APC governorship candidate as a collective victory for party stakeholders and loyal members across Oyo State.
He thanked Almighty Allah and APC members across the state’s 351 wards and 33 local government areas for the overwhelming support they gave him during the party’s governorship primary election.
The APC flag bearer also commended the party’s National Working Committee, security agencies, women, youths, media professionals and members of the National Assembly for ensuring a peaceful and transparent primary election.
He further expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as his inspiring leadership and commitment to economic transformation, political stability and democratic development in Nigeria.
Extending an olive branch to fellow aspirants and aggrieved party members, Alli called for reconciliation, cooperation and collective commitment to rebuilding the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic prosperity, accountability, justice and improved welfare for the people of Oyo State.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Ayoade Adeseun, Olufemi Lanlehin, Hosea Agboola and Yunus Akintunde.
Others in attendance included Chief Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe, Chief Wasiu Ajimobi, Hon. Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, Chief Akin Oke, Alhaji Olayide Abas, Chief Alarape Jolaoso, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Alhaji Kamoru Ajisafe and Alhaji Muftau Adisa Gbayawu.
