The Ajimobi family has been thrown into mourning following the death of Alhaji Teslim Adeboye Ajimobi, a former Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan South-East Local Government and younger brother of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Alhaji Teslim reportedly died in London, United Kingdom, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, after a brief illness. His passing comes in a poignant coincidence, occurring exactly six years after the death of his elder brother, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who died from health complications in Lagos on June 25, 2020.
Although he largely stayed out of the national spotlight occupied by his late brother, Teslim Ajimobi remained an influential political figure within the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was widely regarded as a respected grassroots administrator.
His most notable public service came in 2017 during Senator Ajimobi’s administration, when he was appointed Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan South-East Local Government. During his tenure, he was rerecognisedor promoting community development initiatives and helping to stabilise roots politics in one of Ibadan’s most politically active local government areas.
Beyond politics, Alhaji Teslim Ajimobi maintained significant business interests in the United Kingdom. Records from the UK’s Companies House indicate that he served in executive and directorial capacities in British-registered businesses. Among them was Teslis Global Services Ltd, a London-based international company where he was listed as an active corporate director. His ability to combine grassroots political leadership in Ibadan with corporate administration in the United Kingdom earned him admiration among associates in both sectors.
News of his death spread across Ibadan early Friday, casting a sombre mood over the Ajimobi family residence in the Oluyole area of the Oyo State capital.
As of the time of filing this report, the family had yet to announce burial arrangements. However, political leaders, former members of the Ajimobi administration and community leaders from Ibadan South-East have continued to send condolences to the family, mourning the loss of a respected administrator whose passing marks another painful chapter in the family’s history.
