The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially announced the former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as its vice-presidential candidate, pairing him with former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, for the 2027 presidential election.
Revealing the high-stakes decision in an official statement on Monday, June 15, 2026, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the joint Atiku-Amaechi ticket as a strategic “unity and rescue ticket” specifically designed to address Nigeria’s multiplying economic and security challenges.
According to the party’s leadership, Amaechi’s selection followed exhaustive, nationwide consultations with key party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women stakeholders, and representatives spanning all six geopolitical zones.
