President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for earning global recognition as the 2025 Global Public Relations Association at the prestigious World Public Relations and Communication Award held in Lisbon, Portugal.

In a State House press release signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the achievement as historic and a strong endorsement of Nigeria’s rising profile in global public relations and strategic communications.
The Institute clinched the top honour after a highly competitive selection process involving 89 entries from 19 countries on February 19, 2026.

President Tinubu commended the President and Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for what he termed exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment that culminated in the global accolade.
He praised Dr. Neliaku, Alhaji Idris, their team, and public relations practitioners across the country for their vision and dedication, noting that their efforts propelled the Institute to victory on the world stage.
According to the President, the award reflects the transformative reforms and international engagement initiatives championed by NIPR, as well as the enabling policy direction and institutional backing provided by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation under Minister Idris’ leadership.
He observed that the global recognition highlights Nigeria’s capacity to set standards in ethical communication, public trust-building, and national reputation management.

Expressing confidence in the Institute’s future, President Tinubu urged it to sustain its drive for excellence, innovation, and integrity in public relations practice.
The President also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue supporting institutions that enhance Nigeria’s international image and contribute to national development through effective communication and robust stakeholder engagement.
