Raji Hands Over Modern CBT Centre to JAMB in Iseyin, Sets Up Scholarships for Outstanding Students

Efforts to improve access to computer-based examinations in Oyo State received a boost as renowned legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Alhaji Ahmed Raji, donated a fully equipped Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Iseyin.

The modern facility, located at Raji-Oke Esa Memorial Comprehensive High School in Iseyin, was constructed through the Raji-Esa Foundation and formally handed over to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, on behalf of the agency.

Raji explained that the intervention was driven by concerns over the difficulties faced by students who travel long distances to access CBT centres. He referenced a tragic accident last year that claimed the lives of some students as a major factor behind the project.

“We cannot continue to put the lives of our children at risk,” he said.

In his remarks, Prof. Oloyede commended the donor for his generosity and longstanding contributions to education and humanity, describing the initiative as evidence of his dedication to national development.

“This gesture is a testament to your commitment to the growth of education in Nigeria,” Oloyede stated.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, represented at the event by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Segun Olayiwola, also praised Raji’s sustained support for the state and its people.

According to him, the donation aligned with Raji’s established record of philanthropy, particularly in the education sector. He noted that the legal icon’s contributions to education in Oyo State remain numerous and commendable.

Raji’s broader commitment to educational advancement was further highlighted with reference to his recent donation of a 500-seat capacity hall to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin Campus. His initiatives, particularly in the Oke-Ogun region, were described as clear demonstrations of his resolve to promote learning and development.

Beyond the CBT centre, Raji announced the establishment of scholarships to reward academic excellence and character. The awards will recognise the Best Overall Student, Best Female Student, and Best Character Student of the school. The scholarships are to be named after Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Chief Imam of Iseyin, Sheikh Akeem Olajori, respectively.

The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including the Onjo of Okeho, Oba (Dr.) Rafiu Osuolale Mustapha; former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande; and the Senator representing Oyo North in the National Assembly, Senator Fatai Buhari, among others.
