APC Postpones Oyo Mega Stakeholders’ Meeting, Cites Need for Wider Consultations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has announced the indefinite postponement of its planned Mega Open Air Stakeholders’ Meeting, which was earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday next week.

The party said the decision was taken to allow for wider consultations and more comprehensive planning.

The stakeholders’ meeting, organised by the APC leadership in the state in collaboration with the Oyo State team of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, was designed to introduce the concept of an intra-party rally.

The initiative, which has already been implemented across the state’s 14 federal constituencies, was described by the party as having fostered genuine reconciliation, peace and unity among APC leaders and members, following years of internal challenges.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Friday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, disclosed that the open meeting would now hold on a new date, which would be announced later.

Sadare noted that the APC remains focused on demonstrating its readiness for the 2027 general elections and urged party members and stakeholders to continue to sustain unity and harmony within the party.

According to him, the party recently showcased its capacity to resolve internal crises that had hindered its progress since 2019 through the successful organisation of open-air stakeholders’ meetings in all 14 federal constituencies, following the maiden edition held at the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan.

He explained that the proposed mega meeting is expected to expand participation by involving more APC stakeholders from within and outside Oyo State, all united by a common goal of supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term to consolidate the gains of his Renewed Hope Agenda.

Sadare added that the party intends to begin early preparations to ensure a smooth and effective electioneering process, with the objective of returning President Tinubu to office and reclaiming power in Oyo State in the 2027 elections.

He further disclosed that the postponed meeting would also provide an opportunity to formally receive prominent politicians and their supporters defecting from other political parties into the APC. He stressed that the party aims to demonstrate its strength, resolve and electoral prospects, insisting that no one should doubt the number of votes the APC plans to secure for its candidates in the next general elections.
