The University of Ibadan has been thrown into mourning following the death of Professor Abdulganiy Olayinka Raji, a Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the institution.

Professor Raji, who also served the nation as a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti, Ogun and Osun States, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 19, 2025. He died at his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Members of his family confirmed that Janazah prayers will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque, Oja’agbo, by 11:00 a.m., after which he will be laid to rest at a Muslim cemetery in Ogbomoso.

Until his death, Professor Raji was widely respected for his academic contributions to agricultural and environmental engineering, as well as his public service career with INEC.
He is survived by his wife, children, friends, and extended family.

The family prayed that Allah forgive his shortcomings and rewards his good deeds with Al-janah Firdaus.
