The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed online claims that the party has already selected its candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the circulating posts as false, misleading, and not authorised by any official ADC organ. Abdullahi noted that the so-called announcement originated from unverified online sources, not from the party’s recognised communication channels.
The ADC reiterated that it has already announced the official date for its Osun primaries and remains committed to the highest standards of internal democracy. The party stressed that it does not hand-pick candidates and that no individual has been chosen ahead of the primary process.
According to the statement, only the outcome of the primaries conducted by the party’s authorised structures will determine the bona fide governorship candidate.
The ADC assured all aspirants of a free, fair, and level playing field and urged the public to disregard the misleading reports.
