The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that eight out of the fourteen pre-qualified political associations have successfully completed the upload of all required documents and information as part of the ongoing registration process for new political parties in Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, 30th October 2025, by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, mni, following the Commission’s regular meeting held the same day in Abuja.

According to the statement, the update follows an earlier announcement made by the Commission on 11th September 2025, detailing the progress of the registration exercise. INEC explained that after a briefing session held for the 14 pre-qualified associations on Tuesday, 17th September 2025, a dedicated online portal was opened for the upload of necessary documents between Wednesday, 18th September and Friday, 18th October 2025, at midnight.

By Saturday, 19th October 2025, eight associations had successfully completed their submissions. They include:

  1. All Democratic Alliance (ADA)
  2. Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA)
  3. Abundance Social Party (ASP)
  4. African Alliance Party (AAP)
  5. Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA)
  6. Green Future Party (GFP)
  7. National Democratic Party (NDP)
  8. Peoples Freedom Party (PFP)

INEC stated that the next phase of the process will involve a detailed assessment and verification of the information and documents submitted by each association. The exercise, it said, will ensure that all applications comply with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties (2022).

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and the strengthening of Nigeria’s democratic process through adherence to due process and the rule of law.
