Heartbreak as Mother, Newborn Thrown Out Over Baby’s Illness — Aproko Doctor Sparks Public Outcry

A deeply emotional story shared by health influencer and medical doctor, Dr. Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, has stirred outrage and empathy across Nigeria after he revealed how a man allegedly threw his wife and their newborn baby onto the streets because the child was born with a life-threatening condition.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Egemba recounted the ordeal of Blessing Obukohwo, a young mother who gave birth prematurely to a baby girl named Victory. The baby was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a severe neurological condition caused by the accumulation of fluid in the brain.

Rather than standing by his wife during the crisis, Blessing’s husband allegedly accused her of witchcraft, blaming her for giving birth to a sick child. He then reportedly forced both mother and child out of their home.

“Instead of support, Blessing’s husband called her a witch for having a sick child and threw her and their baby out onto the street,” Aproko Doctor wrote, describing the incident as “a story that makes the blood in your veins run cold.”

According to Egemba, Blessing is now left alone, struggling to keep her daughter alive with nothing but faith and the goodwill of strangers.

“Her husband turned his back, but we will not. AprokoNation, let’s be the family she needs right now. Let’s save Victory,” he appealed to his followers.

To mobilize help, Egemba shared Blessing’s bank details for donations:

    • Account Name: Obukohwo Blessing
    • Account Number: 3581115542
    • Bank: EcoBank

Since the post went viral, Nigerians have flooded social media with messages of anger, support, and compassion. Many condemned the husband’s actions as cruel and inhumane, while others called for more public education and empathy toward families coping with medical challenges in children.

The heartbreaking story of Blessing and baby Victory has since become a rallying point for online communities advocating for kindness, social support, and stronger protections for vulnerable mothers and children.
