NULGE State President Candidate, Comrade Salaudeen, Takes Campaign to the Grassroots, Unveils Agenda, Rallies Support Across Oyo Zones

As the August 7, 2025 elections of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Oyo State approach, the race for the State President position has taken centre stage, with Comrade Salaudeen Ibrahim Olaiya of the NULGE Integrity Group leading a vigorous campaign across the state.

Challenging the incumbent State President, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun, Comrade Salaudeen has taken his campaign directly to delegates and members across the zones — beginning in the Oke-Ogun zone, where the campaign was flagged off with a colourful and energetic event held in Saki West Local Government.

The campaign continued to Ogbomoso and Oyo/Afijio zones, where he met with delegates, stakeholders, and branch executives, presenting his vision for a more inclusive, responsive, and people-oriented NULGE. His message resonated with members seeking fresh leadership, focused reforms, and committed representation.

In his campaign message, Comrade Salaudeen unveiled a comprehensive agenda anchored on six key pillars:

    • Inclusive Leadership and Empowerment: He vowed to run an all-inclusive administration that respects and recognises every zone and branch. He pledged to involve branch chairmen and stakeholders in policy formulation and union decisions.
    • Welfare and Career Development: He assured members of direct benefits, including the distribution of souvenirs, and vowed to actively support and monitor members’ career progression and welfare needs.
    • Zonal Development and Equity: He committed to establishing fully functional zonal offices and acquiring NULGE-owned properties in every zone, promoting fairness and visibility across the state.
    • Dignified Retirement Support: He promised to organise befitting retirement send-off events and ensure timely disbursement of entitlements for retiring officers.
    • Training and Communication: He outlined plans to implement regular capacity-building programmes and sustain familiarisation visits to all branches, strengthening communication and inclusion.
    • Women and Youth Empowerment: Salaudeen proposed structured empowerment programmes for women across all LGAs and reiterated his plan to create opportunities for young workers within the union structure.

While addressing delegates at each zone, Comrade Salaudeen passionately sought their support and votes — not only for himself as State President, but also for other candidates of the NULGE Integrity Group. He emphasised the need for a shift from business as usual, calling for renewed energy, accountability, and a leadership that prioritises the welfare of members above all.

“I am offering myself to serve with sincerity and purpose. With your support, we will reposition NULGE in Oyo State to work better for every member. We are ready. We are capable. We are committed,” he said.

His campaign trail featured other candidates under the NULGE Integrity Group banner, who also shared their visions and engaged delegates at each visit. Among them were candidates for Deputy State President, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary, State Women Leader, Welfare Officers, Trustees, Auditors, and Young Workers’ Representative.

With the campaign set to continue in Ibarapa and Ibadan zones, Comrade Salaudeen Olaiya’s message of reform, equity, and unity continues to gather momentum, presenting a formidable challenge to the current leadership and positioning him as a strong contender to lead NULGE into a new era in Oyo State.
