The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the immediate reinstatement of Mr. Adedokun Emmanuel Olalekan as Chairman of Saki East Local Government Area, following the submission and adoption of a report by its Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours.

The decision was taken during the Assembly’s plenary session held on Tuesday after the committee, chaired by Hon. Akintunde Olajide, presented its findings from a thorough investigation into the allegations raised in a petition against the suspended chairman.
The investigation followed a resolution by the House on March 18, 2025, in response to a petition titled “Call for Urgent Intervention and Holistic Investigation in the Affairs of Saki East Local Government under the Leadership of Mr. Adedokun Emmanuel Olalekan.”
According to Hon. Olajide’s report, the committee engaged key stakeholders in the local government to assess the validity of the claims. Those consulted included the Acting Chairman, Mr. Rasaq Moruf; Leader of the Council, Mr. Adebayo Wahab; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Raji Abiola; the Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Idowu; and the suspended chairman, Mr. Adedokun Emmanuel himself.
Based on the findings, the committee recommended the reinstatement of Mr. Adedokun Emmanuel, which was unanimously adopted by the House.
As part of the resolution, the Assembly also directed the Acting Chairman and Vice Chairman to return to their previous roles as Vice Chairman and Leader of the Council, respectively.
The reinstatement brings closure to weeks of administrative uncertainty in Saki East, signaling the Assembly’s commitment to due process and fair hearing in governance matters.
