    Tributes Pour in as Islamic Scholar Muyideen Bello Passes Away at 84

    The Nigerian Muslim community is grieving the loss of Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello, a revered Islamic scholar whose teachings and advocacy for unity left a profound impact on millions. Alhaji Bello, widely admired for his eloquence, truthfulness, and dedication to Islamic principles, passed away at 84.

    Born in Ibadan in 1940, Alhaji Bello’s early commitment to Islamic scholarship shaped a lifelong mission of spreading knowledge and fostering peace. He gained prominence for his fearless sermons and unflinching dedication to truth. Announcing his passing on Friday morning, Alfa Aribidesi of At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah described him as a towering figure in the propagation of Islamic values.

    Renowned Islamic singer Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju, known as Aponle Anabi, also shared the news with a heartfelt tribute, reflecting the deep admiration the scholar commanded across diverse segments of the Muslim community.

    A Legacy Rooted in Truth and Knowledge

    Alhaji Bello’s journey into Islamic scholarship began in his youth when he lived with his uncle, an Islamic scholar, to immerse himself in Quranic studies. Combining formal education with deep Islamic knowledge, he became known for his powerful oratory and commitment to integrity.

    Reflecting on his life’s work, Alhaji Bello once stated, “From my childhood, I was noted for saying the truth no matter whose ox is gored. It is with utmost truth that we should speak God’s words every day.”

    An Outpouring of Grief

    Since the news of his death, his Akobo residence in Ibadan has been filled with mourners offering condolences and celebrating a life devoted to service. Social media has also been awash with tributes from followers, students, and admirers.

    Sheikh Taofeeq Akeugbagold, a fellow cleric, shared his sorrow on Facebook, writing, “Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator. May Allah be pleased with your soul.”

    A Teacher, Advocate, and Unifier

    Throughout his life, Alhaji Bello worked tirelessly to promote unity within the Muslim Ummah, emphasizing the importance of truth and peaceful coexistence. His teachings continue to inspire countless Nigerians, reflecting his enduring influence as a scholar and advocate for Islamic values.

    Awaiting Funeral Arrangements

    Although the details of his funeral arrangements are yet to be formally announced, sources indicate that Alhaji Bello will be buried in Ibadan according to Islamic rites.

    As the nation mourns, Alhaji Muyideen Bello’s legacy stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to truth, knowledge, and peace. He leaves behind a rich heritage of enlightenment and inspiration for generations to come.
