The Special Adviser on Labour Matters to the Oyo State Governor, Comrade Barrister Bayo Titilola Sodo, has affirmed Oyo State’s commitment to transparent and sincere labour relations, particularly regarding the new minimum wage.
Speaking at a reception organized by the Oke-Ogun chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) for Comrade Steven Olusesan Aderounmu, an outgoing internal auditor from the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Sodo highlighted the state’s commitment to workers’ welfare. The event was held at the Kajola Local Government, Okeho.
During his remarks, Sodo referenced Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent announcement of a new minimum wage of N80,000 for Oyo State workers. He assured attendees that once the consequential adjustments are finalized, the resulting salary structure would be one of the most competitive in the country.
“Our current salary scale is among the best in Nigeria,” Sodo emphasized, noting that Oyo State stands out among other states for its worker-friendly policies. He praised Governor Makinde as a leader who deeply values the welfare of Oyo State employees and prioritizes their well-being in his governance decisions.
