The Oyo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Barrister Ajiboye Isaac Omodewu, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. Omodewu’s passing, which occurred in the United States, was confirmed earlier today, sending shockwaves through the state’s political community.

In a statement jointly signed by the Oyo PDP Chairman, Secretary, and Acting PRO, the party described Omodewu’s death as a significant and irreplaceable loss not just to his party, but to the entire state. The statement highlighted Omodewu’s extensive contributions as a community leader, political figure, and public servant who held various critical roles, including Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Physical Planning and Urban Development, and Lands, Housing, and Survey.

The PDP acknowledged that Omodewu’s departure will leave a deep void in the state’s political landscape and directed its members to observe a period of mourning and offer prayers for the repose of his soul. The party extended its heartfelt condolences to the APC, as well as to Omodewu’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

According to the statement, “The loss of Barrister Omodewu is a tragic event for Oyo State. He was not just a political leader but a pillar of his community, a father figure, and a source of support for many. His death is a loss that will continue to resonate for a long time.”

The PDP further remarked, “Omodewu’s passing marks the end of a significant political camaraderie, brotherhood, and friendship, but we find solace in knowing that he lived a life of fulfillment, dedicated to service to God and humanity. As a party, we have instructed our members to mourn this loss and to keep his family in their prayers. We also stand in solidarity with the APC, praying that God grants them and the deceased’s family the strength to bear this heavy loss and that such an occurrence is prevented in the future.”

The statement also underscored the unique relationship between Omodewu and Oyo PDP Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, both of whom hail from Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oke Ogun. Despite being political opponents, they shared a bond rooted in their shared heritage and mutual respect.

Barrister Isaac Omodewu, who assumed the role of APC Chairman in October 2021, passed away at the age of 61. His legacy as a dedicated public servant and influential leader in Oyo State will be remembered for years to come.
