Oyo SUBEB Reschedules Exam Timetable for Muslim Applicants to Observe Juma’at Prayers

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has announced an adjustment to its ongoing Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination schedule to accommodate Muslim applicants who need to observe Juma’at prayers. The change was made to ensure that applicants can fulfill their religious obligations without missing their exams.

In a statement released on Thursday, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of OYOSUBEB, explained that the adjustment specifically affects Muslim applicants who were initially scheduled to take exams between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday.

“For those observing Juma’at prayers at various mosques from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., we have arranged for them to take their exams afterward,” Adeniran stated. “Muslim applicants are permitted to attend their prayers, and they will be allowed to sit for their exams when they return from the mosque.”

He clarified that while the exams will continue as scheduled for non-Muslim applicants, Muslim applicants whose exams overlap with the prayer time will have the flexibility to complete their tests later in the day.

Dr. Adeniran assured that this accommodation would not disrupt the examination process for other applicants. He emphasized his commitment to fairness and inclusivity, ensuring that all applicants can participate in the exams without compromising their religious practices.

He also mentioned that he would be present at the examination center throughout the week to supervise the exams. As a Muslim, he noted that he, too, would take a break to observe Juma’at prayers and would return at 3 p.m. to ensure smooth operations and compliance with the new schedule.

The adjustment reflects OYOSUBEB’s dedication to respecting religious practices while maintaining the integrity and smooth conduct of the examination process. The exams are set to conclude tomorrow, and the board is committed to accommodating all applicants’ needs during this period.
