The Ibadan Discourse Group (IDG), a body of distinguished Nigerians from the South West, has congratulated renowned journalist and writer, Dr. Lasisi Olagunju, on his recent election as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL).
Dr. Olagunju, Editor of Nigerian Tribune on Saturday and a respected columnist, is a prominent member of the IDG.
In a press statement issued by the group’s Coordinator, Mr. Clement Ige, and signed by its Media Coordinator, Dapo Falade, the IDG hailed Dr. Olagunju as “a source of pride to the Tribune stable and journalism in general,” describing him as “one of the few conscience of journalism practice” in the country.
“We felicitate with one of us, Dr. Lasisi Olagunju, on his election as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters. Dr. Olagunju deserves this honour as a deep thinker and thoroughbred, award-winning journalist who consistently uplifts society through his powerful and insightful writings,” the statement read.
The group praised him as a “first-class researcher, philosopher, and people’s columnist,” and commended his continued contributions to public discourse and national development through his pen.
“We are proud of this latest milestone and pray for more honours and strength for Dr. Olagunju as he continues to serve society with excellence,” the IDG added.
