Popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, and nine of his aides were arraigned before the Ogun State Magistrate’s Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Thursday over allegations of assault and obstruction of government officials.

The charges stem from a February 5, 2025, incident at Odogwu Bar in Sango, Ogun State, where Portable and his associates allegedly attacked three town planners—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero—while they were carrying out their official duties.

Portable, who had earlier been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command, surrendered himself at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) on Wednesday. He was later transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, before being brought to court.

The singer faced a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, restriction, possession of weapons such as cutlasses and guns, and conduct likely to cause harm. His co-accused—Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26)—were also charged with felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to breach public peace.

Portable pleaded not guilty to all charges. His lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for bail, arguing that the singer had shown remorse and learned his lesson.

Magistrate O. L. Oke granted Portable bail in the sum of N2 million with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 5 for trial.

The Ogun State Government had earlier criticized Portable’s alleged actions, describing him as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”
