Oyo State Acting Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, has announced that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s administration is committed to revitalizing the market system in both urban and rural areas with modern facilities. He emphasized that this initiative is part of the government’s efforts to enhance development and improve the quality of life for residents across the state.
Lawal also tasked local government chairmen with maintaining vigilance to prevent the influx of miscreants into the state through the markets. Additionally, he urged them to ensure the new facility remains clean and up to standard.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, stated that the construction of the market is aimed at boosting trade and commerce, contributing to the state’s overall development. He called on traders and market leaders to maintain the market’s structure and cleanliness to support the government’s efforts.

Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon. Timothy Oyedokun, expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for delivering on his promises, including the construction of the market as a dividend of democracy. He assured that the shops would be allocated to the original occupants whose shops were demolished to make way for the new project.
In a goodwill message, the Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom, Oba Sunday Oyediran, Lagbami Osekun III, thanked Governor Makinde for fulfilling his commitment to build the ultramodern market. He urged the people of Ogbomoso to use their resources and connections to attract more developmental projects for the town’s progress.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chief of Staff to the governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi; Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment, and Cooperatives, Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi; and Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Sanni. Other notable attendees included Dr. Saka Balogun, Co-Chairman of the Oyo Elders’ Council; Oyo State ALGON Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda; and Chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Wing, Bishop Ademola Moradeyo.
